OSUN Staff Mobility Program: Exploring the Library of the American University in Bulgaria

April 19, 2024

On March 18-31, 2024, 麻豆传媒 Librarian Tolgonai Kozhokanova visited the American University of Bulgaria (AUBG) as part of the OSUN Staff Mobility Fellowship. The program provided invaluable opportunities for professional exchange and collaboration.

鈥淭he treasure of AUBG is the Panitza Library with its rich book collection of books and periodicals, special collections, and electronic resources. These resources empower students and faculty to explore beyond the confines of physical books, accessing information from anywhere from international publishers and databases with just a few clicks.

During the visit, I had the privilege of working with AUBG librarians- a wonderful, knowledgeable, and friendly team of professionals. Their advice and assistance allowed me to achieve my goal of exchanging experiences. We discussed our work during formal and informal meetings, namely on library and electronic resources, as well as collaboration with faculty.

I got many new professional insights from this fellowship program.听听 The exchange of ideas on library resources, regular workshops, collaboration with faculty members, Open Access, and Open Educational Resources in both countries created an opportunity for future collaboration between the two university libraries.

During the program, I also had a chance to visit the Blagoevgrad Regional Library, and Library of Sofia University, and to see the amazing work of librarians working on digitizing old and rare books, manuscripts, and archival materials at the Special Collection Department.

I sincerely thank the OSUN program for this unique opportunity and for creating the possibility of future cooperation. Furthermore, I would like to thank Nikolina Ivanova-Bell, Library Director at AUBG for her outstanding leadership and support during my fellowship鈥.
