Successful Conclusion of Summer Workshop on Policy Labs: Fostering Collaboration for Sustainable Development

Today marks the successful conclusion of the three-day Summer Workshop on Policy Labs, organised by the Tian Shan Policy Center under the "Learning by Doing: Policy Labs and Civic Engagement" program. The workshop aimed to establish connections between academic policy research curriculums and organisations, practitioners, and policymakers dedicated to addressing global sustainable and peaceful development challenges.

It focuses on practice-based applied research, fostering student learning and faculty exchange. 鶹ý, as an integral member and partner of the OSUN (Open Society University Network), is actively involved in designing a joint curriculum for the policy labs and conducting them locally.

Bringing together more than 20 faculty members and students from esteemed institutions such as the 鶹ý, the Geneva Graduate Institute, and the Central European University, the workshop provided a platform for sharing experiences in carrying out applied research projects within Policy Labs. The participants aimed to develop shared curricula and explore novel ways of collaboration.

Participants engaged in fruitful knowledge exchange throughout the workshop and experienced invaluable learning moments. Students had the opportunity to showcase their completed projects and receive constructive feedback from their peers, fostering constructive discussions and mutual learning.

"The highlight of this workshop was the opportunity to share my applied research project experience with students from the 鶹ý and the Central European University. It was insightful and fascinating to witness the diverse collaborations between students and their project partners. This experience reinforced the importance of sharing and learning from one another, as it provided valuable insights and enhanced my research journey in a specific area", said Martin Eggenberger, a student at the Geneva Graduate Institute.

«We extend our sincere gratitude to all the participants for their active participation and contributions. This project is made possible with the support of OSUN (Open Society University Network), a global network of universities that promotes liberal education, personal autonomy, and a free society. Through the OSUN project activity, we strive to bridge the gap between academic research and organisations, practitioners, and policymakers, all dedicated to tackling global challenges of sustainable development”, concludedKanat Sultanaliev, executive Director of TSPC.
