It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Aliia Salikhova on Saturday, February 18. Aliia was a part of the Â鶹´«Ã½ family, a freshman student of the Business Administration Department, and an NGA alumna.

Aliia was an incredibly bright and ambitious young woman who had a passion for learning and making a difference in her community. She was an active member of the Â鶹´«Ã½ Community, during her short stay at the university, she managed to volunteer at different events, supervised the NGA mental workshops, and also led the Â鶹´«Ã½ business page.

"Aliia will be remembered by students and colleagues as an excellent student and friend who was charismatic, generous, and kind. She was a participant in the FLEX Program and later worked as a FLEX alumni city representative in Bishkek as well as a program coordinator for the Community Service and Involvement Program (CSIP). In addition to having a gold certificate and earning a merit-based scholarship, Aliia received numerous recognitions for her work as a mentor at the 2021 Human Rights Workshop and Debate & Public Speaking Workshop. She was an active participant of USAID U.S. Embassy programs, such as Virtual Democracy Camp and the MakerCamp for Girls." — Jonathan Becker, Â鶹´«Ã½ president.
